Spitfire was formed in 2008 by film, TV and games composers Paul Thomson & Christian Henson as a private enterprise to create a set of compositional tools that were more satisfactory than the ones that were commercially available at that time.

Spitfire’s aim is to encourage composers to write great music, to promote celebrate and preserve the amazing talents of British musicians, technicians and studios. To encourage people to use live musicians, and by writing with Spitfire tools, to compose the kind of music that make musicians shine. To continue making samples “THE SPITFIRE WAY”.

1- Spitfire Audio LLP BML Sable Strings FULL v.1.1 KONTAKT |
http://i.imgur.com/LBe1KV9.jpg

After the delights of enormous string libraries, providing broad brush stroke approaches to writing, which have characterised recent film, gaming and TV music to some extent, Spitfire are at last proud to present a new set of brushes. The finest of sable brushes if you will, to provide you with the tools you need to write detailed and focussed string parts that have a personality and style that represents your personality, that expresses your creative will and provides you with fresh pastures of experimentation.

SPITFIRE PRESENTS SABLE.
Part of a new, long-term project entitled THE BRITISH MODULAR LIBRARY providing composers with the ability to add fine detail, musical expression, beauty and focus to their work. To write music that musicians love to play and to get the most out of smaller ensembles and the wealth of timbral colour and character they can add to any project. After many years of development experience Spitfire will present this library with a user interface and set of features unprecedented in any library to date. With 7 mic positions, recorded at 96k through vintage valve and ribbon mics to tape through Neve premaps and Prism convertors, and presented at 48k, 24bit in Kontakt format, and additionally three extremely useful ‘mixed’ versions presented in Stereo and 5.1 Surround.

Sable is presented in modular volumes and consists of the finest players London has to offer, playing in the hall at Air Studios, regarded as one of the greatest scoring stages in the world.
The Sable band is 4 x 1st Violins, 3 x 2nd Violins (totally different players seated in their correct positions), 3 x Violas, 3 x Cellos and 3 x Contrabasses.

SABLE 1 Features “essential articulations” for the 1st violins and cellos. A deep and detailed articulation list that will provide you with everything you need to create the most amazing string parts. We feel that this module is a game-changer, the first time such a powerful tool can operate within your palette that doesn’t behave like a steam train of strings ploughing through your compositions obliterating everything in it’s path. With an Albion as a base unit, these sable brushes bring everything into sharp focus. But as a complete set, these will be a thing to behold. We hope sampled section strings will never sound the same again and usher in a new era of sophisticated and diverse string writing.

SABLE 2 Will compliment Sable 1’s “essential articulations” for the 1st violins and cellos, with a similar selection of “essential articulations” for 2nd violins, violas and basses. We can’t ignore the 2nd violins, it’s usually just suggested you duplicate a 1st violin patch. We don’t like that, and what’s more we record everything in-situ so it would leave a massive hole in our panning spectrum. So this slightly smaller section (a3 to give you even more nuanced control) v2s are a complimentary set of totally different players, playing totally different instruments in a different seating position, alongside the violas and further along the basses. A deep and detailed module that will provide you with everything you need to create the most amazing string parts. TUBA, CIMBASSO, CIMBASSO A2, CONTRABASS TROMBONE.
REQUIRES A FULL VERSION OF KONTAKT 4+ TO RUN.

After the delights of enormous brass libraries and ensembles, providing broad brush stroke approaches to writing, which have characterised recent film, gaming and TV music to some extent, Spitfire are at last proud to present some of the greatest brass players in the world to provide you with the tools you need to write detailed and focussed orchestral music.

This is the fifth instalment in our BML (British Modular Library) Range.
British brass players are renowned around the world for their talent, flair, virtuosity and versatility. Composers travel the globe to come and work with them. One particular area of excellence is in our “low” brass players.
THE TUBA

A wide bore valved brass instrument used as a bass or contrabass member of an orchestra. Often used as a comedy effect for it’s short farty parps, it is often forgotten what a beautiful chocolatey tone it can give. Arranging for a choir of tuba, euphoniums and horns would provide a seemless onslaught of tear inducing beauty. In the right hands (and in Owen Slade here, we certainly are!) they can be incredibly lyrical but also, at the lowest part of their register and upper dynamic levels, monstrous and utterly terrifying!

THE CONTRABASS TROMBONE
Wagner Strauss and Schoenberg are some composers who put this instrument through its paces, however, the eponimous Samuel Adler in his book “The Study Of Orchestration” rather flippantly remarked “Since the contrabass trombone taxes the performer so greatly, we advise not to write for the instrument…” Pah to that! London has a handful of fine players and in this library we have the finest.
So the CB Trombone is as the name would suggest, part of the trombone family; a brass lipped reed aerophone with a cylindrical bore featuring the familiar telescopic slide. Be warned though, whilst we have looped the samples here be wary when writing loud lower parts. You’d be lucky to get half a bar of sustained notes in these conditions.

THE CIMBASSO
In 1881 G.C. Pelitti created at Verdi’s request a new low brass instrument, the “trombone basso Verdi”. Verdi scored for this instrument in subsequent operas, Otello and Falstaff, thereafter it was adopted by most Italian orchestras. It slipped into obscurity in the 20th century (orchestras opting to pass these parts onto the Tuba) but has seen a recent revivial, especially in the realm of film scores. It is a valved instrument with the appearance of a tuba that has been on a very effective diet. Whilst it’s range is quite low it’s finer bore doesn’t offer as much chocolatey bottom end that the Tuba does. But it’s not this that we’re looking for with a Cimbasso, for the real character of the instrument is in it’s upper dynamics and Cuivre style of playing. For therein lies a sound that could have sprung straight out of a Hyronemous Bosch painting.

The Albion Range : Cinematic ensembles and composer’s Tools

http://i.imgur.com/oimxM9C.jpg

1-  Spitfire Audio Albion I REDUX V.5.0 KONTAKT |
http://i.imgur.com/gqsoxEk.jpg
EPIC CINEMATIC TOOLS
Made from a totally new set of samples recorded in May and June 2011 at Air-Studios Lyndhurst Hall, ALBION is the most exciting addition to Spitfire’s commercial range to date. A one-stop-shop of thundering orchestral delights….
ALBION ORCHESTRA – “…if you need a palette of powerful orchestral ensembles which will inspire your writing, galvanise your scores and generally add class, sheen, size, power and depth to your orchestral armoury, the library delivers in spades.” Sound On Sound Magazine October 2011.
The finest orchestral session musicians playing the finest, rarest instruments, recorded at Air Studios – Lyndhurst Hall, London, through the finest vintage, valve, and ribbon mics to 2″ tape. The only tape based orchestral library in the world. This is all you need to write epic sounding, widescreen cinematic orchestral music straight out of the box. Recorded in sections, this library features rich, aggressive and lyrical strings; punchy, growling brass; and some seriously malevolent woodwinds.
All patches come with 4 mixable/ routable and selectable mic positions C(lose), T(ree), A(mbient) and O(outrigger). Work with one mic “in” on your laptop on the plane, then render down with all four routed to 5.1 on your “big rig” back at your studio.
In addition to that, true legato is available across all choirs of the orchestra. A new and innovative addition is our “Ostinatum” engine that helps you build exciting and unexpected arrangements to your flowing top-lines and a huge bank of mod wheel fade orchestral FX to provide you with some alearic colours.
DARWIN PERCUSSION“The ‘cinematic’ sound of big, booming drums and scary, low?pitched rumbles and crashes, preferably recorded in a highly reverberant hall acoustic… this type of explosive, earth?shaking racket is amply covered in Albion.” Sound On Sound Magazine October 2011.
Darwin Percussion is a thunderous collection of massive cinematic drums, ear piercing metal slams, sub sonic thuds, a cymbal ensemble and exciting mid and high range action sections. Available with 4 round robins, 4 dynamic layers and 3 mic positions.
STEPHENSON’S STEAM BAND – “…introducing a psychedelic, other?worldly quality. The pads section ranges from dreamy, gently swelling chordal textures to enormous, multi?octave ‘choir of the gods’?style patches.” Sound On Sound Magazine October 2011.
Derived and punked entirely from our orchestral recordings, to make these “other-worldly” soundscapes easier to mix into the orchestral sound-palette. With X/Fade modulation and 2 mic positions for surround information. Whilst being enormous in scale and interest, all pads and drones are harmonically monophonic for true musical integration into your cues.
BRUNEL LOOPS – A selection of esoteric tools designed to sit on top of your mix to add sparkle and “motivation”. These feature up to 4 dynamic layers of MW Xfade and an advance FX sequencer.
Winning two Future Music awards: “Platinum” and “Value”. The magazine awarded Albion these scores: 8/10 for Stability, 10/10 for Value, 9/10 for Ease Of Use, 9/10 for Versatility, 9/10 for Results.
It is quite simply a must for any aspiring film composer, and equally any existing film composer wishing to pump life back into a tired palette of sounds. Recorded in London for that truly “British” sound, Albion is the only library commercially available in the world today.

CINEMATIC DETAIL & BEAUTY
Following in the huge success of the thundering Albion I – Epic Cinematic Tools – Spitfire are delighted to announce Albion II – Loegria. Ablion II is designed as a stand-alone tool, and everything you would need to write beautiful and esoteric film scores out-of-the-box. We are excited to present an incredible Chamber sized String group of the first call session players in the UK, again designed as High and Low Ensembles. At last this intimate sound is available with Spitfire’s mic mixing ability, and with strings that concentrate also on an array of additional techniques not found in Albion I, and woods and brass that centre more on “choral” use of such sections. Loegria is a must buy for Albion users wishing to expand on the possibilities of that broad & thumping tool-set, but also stands alone as a superb tool for creating intimate scores.
ALBION ORCHESTRA – As with Albion I, everything is recorded at Air-Studios Lyndhurst Hall through the finest and rarest vintage valve and ribbon mics onto 2″ tape. Every patch is available with four way mic control and all shorts patches work with the newly enriched “Ostinatum” v3 gadget. We have a mixture of true legato, longs, and shorts patches, the latter of which are recorded with 4 round robins.
The strings sound-set (in addition to it’s standard, long, short and legato sets) features a comprehensive selection of additional techniques; the much called for tremolando patches, trills, harmonics, flautando (stunningly beautiful), light col legno and a variety of shorts patches. With our Loegria| Chamber Band, we feel we have created the most successful sounding chamber strings package commercially available today. In addition to the full section, we have duplicated full longs and legatos with a smaller ‘half section’ sized band. With the 4-way mic control the sound is very adaptable and we feel the smaller section is better suited to independent scores, period pieces, romance and comedy, not to mention vocal accompaniment – pop tracks and alike.
The brass range concentrates on the true beauty of British brass sections and their heart wrenching choral qualities. We have two ensembles recorded, a bank of Euphonia and Horns, and the more ancient but no less beautiful Sackbut choir.
The wind section concentrates on the beautiful simplistic qualities of traditional wooden recorders. Played by a group of the finest players of this instrument in the world.
BYRON BEATS – Not only will Loegria be great to provide a single stop solution for beautiful romantic, period scores, finer sounding strings for pop tracks, or detail to your thundering Albion I mockups, it will also give you everything you need to come up with esoteric independent style film scores. Byron beats is an inspiring place to start any new indy cue. Here will be a comprehensive selection of rhythm loops inspired by a popular keyboard instrument from the 60s and 70s (you know the one, it used real tape). As there were only a few of these rhythms recorded on the original classic they have been subject to massive over-use. Loegria provides an entirely new comprehensive bank of these style of rhythms. Recorded ‘vintage style’ through a rare Cadac desk, these loops will feature both the original full bandwidth analogue recordings and also ‘vintage’ versions whose signal path includes a line mixer owned and used by Jimi Hendrix. These loops and patterns are designed to tempo lock with your host.
DARWIN PERCUSSION – Another selection of thundering cinematic drums to reinvigorate your Darwin collections, or indeed start you off with everything you would expect from ‘cinema’ style percussion. We have gone deeper this time with 5 round robins, 5 dynamic layers and more hits. We have also recorded and edited “tight” and for that hooffner (very big indeed) sound; “loose” versions of the patches which really give you a sense of manpower behind the recordings.
FENTON REVERSALS Any media composer knows that a tricky cut or a suddenly revised edit can make a mess of the musicality of a cue. And the way to blur a jump in music, a sudden 3/4 bar or a cut that runs in the middle of a beat, is to use some form of reversed material. Fenton Reversals are a selection of super cool reverses derived from the Albion range and locked into your host tempo so you don’t need to line them up. A lot of these are also mod wheel dynamic cross fade control.
STEPHENSON’S STEAM BAND As with Albion I, we have taken the orchestral elements found herein and have warped them out of all recognition into a scintillating set of dozens of pads, drones and atmos. With two way mic control and modulation control, which sometimes effect dynamic and at other times act to “disintegrate” the sound, these sounds mix beautifully in with your orchestral arrangements as they are of wholly organic source.
As successful composers Paul Thomson, Christian Henson and the rest of the Spitfire team understand the tools that we all need to deliver inspiration in times of creative drought, speed of use when up against the clock and scaleability on a number of systems when composition on your laptop on the red-eye from NY to LA is required. Loegria is the second instalment in the Albion range that delivers all this to you and at a price which is simply irresistible. We’ve loved beta testing this and many of it’s fine features are already making their way to dubbing theatres. In all honesty we think it’s the nicest sounding library we’ve ever produced. But that’s enough from us click HERE what other people have been saying about us.

CINEMATIC LOW-END APOCALYPSE
WHERE ORCHESTRAL EPIC DINES OUT WITH THE ROUGHEST FILTHIEST DUBSTEP AND GRIME.
(ALL PRICES SUBJECT TO VAT WITHIN THE EU)
SEE THE TRAILER HERE.

Where Albion I was a set of broad cinematic aerosol cans, Albion – Volume II – Loegria a finer set of detailed sable brushes. Albion III Iceni is a cricket bat, a mace, a large trunk of blunt tree to bludgeon to death any track or cue it comes near.
Iceni is an investigation into low end, thundering enormity, horrifying rasp and obliterating distortion.
Featuring over 300 sickeningly fat, grimy, epic and mangled LOOPS by some exciting emerging UK-based producer/ programmer/ composers including The Flight (Lana Del Ray, Rufus Wainwright, Skye, Jess Mills, Bjork), Stanley Gabriel (Kate Bush, Ladyhawke, Little Boots) and Christian Henson (Programmer on Spy Game, Narnia, Composer of Severance, Black Death, Devil’s Double).
The largest and lowest sets of drums available for use in London, including rare British marching toms. Played by the leader and members of the Olympic opening ceremony’s drum corps.

Stephenson’s set of SYNTH BASSES, pads and sequences generated from and in addition to…. wait for it…..
THE LARGEST, ASSEMBLED WORLD-CLASS, LOW-END ORCHESTRA FOR A COMMERCIAL SAMPLE PROJECT TO-DATE.

THE ENGLISH SESSION ORCHESTRA JUST GOT VERY VERY FAT AND VERY VERY FRIGHTENING:
Winds: 2 contra bassoons, 2 contrabass clarinets, heckelphone, 2 bassoons, 2 bass clarinets, 1 bass saxophone
Brass: 2 tubas, 2 cimbassi, 2 contra bass bones, 3 bass bones
Strings: 0,0,0,24,8 Yes….. that’s no violins, no violas, but 24 ‘Celli, and 8 Basses. Recorded both tutti and in two ‘Celli sections with the ‘Celli split into two on either side of the room with the Basses in the middle. It simply has to be heard to be believed.
Our most expensive commercial venture to-date was recorded to tape via the rarest set of valve and ribbon mics in the hall at Air Lyndhurst, one of the greatest recording studios in the world (Batman Returns, Gladiator, Bourne Ultimatum, Harry Potter, Hunger Games).
The orchestral tool-set is primitively simple and effective; longs, legatos, shorts, with some of the most mind boggling FX in the brass and woods. They’re designed for anyone to use regardless of their experience or understanding of orchestral disciplines and is scaleable on a variety of systems. This is a must-have library whether you’re writing trailers, computer games, TV or film drama or need the new tool for the next generation of Dubstep, Breakbeat, Crunk or Grime.
Launching before Christmas, this is the train-set you always hoped Santa would bring you, but be warned, this library will make you feel dirty when you use it, you’ll need a Silkwood style scrub-down after use and your subwoofer is just about to get the hiding of its life.

The Definitive Range : Essential orchestral Staples

1- Spitfire Percussion REDUX V.1.3 KONTAKT |

http://i.imgur.com/MjfnroJ.jpg

Recorded at Air Studios, Lyndhurst Hall, one of the greatest scoring stages in the world and showcasing the searing talents of percussionist prodigy Joby Burgess. Spitfire Percussion is a genre defining bench mark, offering ultimate playability, reality, with the impact but also clarity of the hall, and a controllability and depth not to be found anywhere else in a library of this type. As with all of our modules, this is designed specifically for the media composer and we hope it will be a tool for music makers to use for generations to come.
This is simply vast array of instruments stretching over 160 patches, grouped across, Drums Hi, Drums Lo, Mallets Metal (which includes the Harry Potter celeste!), Mallets Wood, Timpani, Toys, Unpitched Metal (including some awesome cinematic anvils and a selection of amazing trash) and Unpitched Wood. However we haven’t bored you with hundreds of different beater types, we have built – we believe – the definitive Marimba patch, alongside the vibraphone, and xylophone, and a definitive timpani featuring a multi stick dynamic & pitch range that gives a powerful but controllable sound as the percussionist would play it on the scoring stage.
All instruments are deeply sampled with up to 8 round robins per dynamic and up to 8 dynamics per note.
All instruments have the ability to mix and/or mute mic positions from the front panel: Close mics, Decca tree and Ambient outriggers. Route the spots into your centre channel, the tree in L&R and the ambients in Ls & Rs, and you also have a perfect 5.0 perc library. Or simply keep in stereo and mix according to taste. All controls can be fully automated.
We are confident that once you buy this, you will never buy another orchestral percussion library.
About “Redux”:
Having purposely future-proofed this project massively by recording instruments with up to 8 dynamic layers, 8 round robins* and three mixable mic positions. It has actually taken technology a while to catch-up with the true potential of this library.
This Redux version embraces the power, memory and voice possibilities of recent advances in technology coupled with many innovations made in Spitfire’s “Albion” range to provide a total overhaul of how this library works, namely:
• Unified look to bring it in line with other Spitfire releases. The same multimic with purging/levels you’re used to working with in Albion/Albion 2.
• All-in-one patches giving you all the articulations and playing styles of an instrument in a single keyswitch-able patch to optimise templates.
• Ability to latch articulations to CCs, pedals and custom keyswitches to suit your individual workflow.
• Extensive purging options to optimise memory for your individual setups. Select how many RR and articulations are active and loaded into memory.
• Extended ‘Neighbouring zones’ RR (round robin) for melodic percussion, potentially tripling the RR count
• Configurable release volumes, dynamics and expression from the front panel
• Customisable velocity mapping – map the dynamics to your individual workstation setup.
• Improvements to instruments such as double handed timpani mapping, simulation of dampened bells/glocks/celeste/etc.
• The RHYTHM MATRIX. A whole new way of building percussion arrangements, patterns and sequences.

Spitfire Harpsichord is part of what we refer to as the “Definitive” range of Spitfire commercial products.Whereby we aim to provide a single stop solution, a definitive version of an instrument or group of instruments. It is our intention that these modules are the best in their field and are sampled in a way to future proof advances in technology and provide our users with tools that make the sonic character easily adjustable for a number of applications.
The Spitfire Harpsichord is presented to you by virtuoso Steven Devine whose beautiful instrument (the sound board of which is used in our artwork) and fervent enthusiasm and passion, we hope, has been captured here for your enjoyment. David kindly took us through the technicalities of the instrument and has advised us how best to approach it’s subtle complexities. Combined with our engineer Jake Jackson’s masterful handling of this instrument in the world famous Lyndhurst Hall, Air – Studios and a set of easily controllable microphone positions, we believe this to be a totally unique addition to your sonic arsenal. Orchestral Grand Piano is a super realistic “contextual” piano designed specifically to fit proudly within your full orchestral arrangements. Having recorded it in one of the greatest studios in the world we’re confident it will fit in with any palette. But if you’re an existing Spitfire user, this VI will seamlessly integrate.
Pianos tend to be recorded in a very scientific manner which is why, for larger orchestral mockups and realisations they can often be very difficult to blend in and mix. You will have no such problems here. We simply recorded the piano as we have the rest of our modules. In situ, a real-world setting with mics placed as they would be for any orchestral session. The end result a piano sounding as it would, where it would be and recorded as it would be for any of the great film scores to have been recorded in Air-Studios Lyndhurst Hall.
Recorded through classic vintage mics to 2″ tape, both the analogue and direct digital signal are selectable. 4 true round robins expandable to 12 scripted with 4 controllable mic positions (C(lose), T(ree), O(utrigger) & A(ambient)) & New preset velocity curves.
